Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) is among the top 15 busiest airports in the world and its No. 1 cargo airport. That HKIA is among the best airports in the world becomes clear when you look at the list of awards they win every year. For example, they have received the gold award for best global cargo airport, have been named Airport operator of the year 2019 and have been consecutively awarded the best airport in China for the past several years.
Better experiences through digitization
HKIA's ambition is to use digitization to improve the passenger experience. Using our Digital Airport Platform (DAP)*, we have created a smart digital solution that encourages travel through HKIA. This is because HKIA wants to keep all travelers informed at all times with the most up-to-date information and be able to provide the highest quality of service.
Large amount of features
The new 'HKG My Flight' app for iOS and Android stands out for its wide range of features, which provide a digital connection between the huge variety of facilities the airport has to offer. Features range from flight information to food and product ordering at the stores and restaurants and from parking reservation to wayfinding via augmented reality. A chatbot streamlines customer service. A unique feature is the integrated trip planner, which connects directly to Hong Kong's coach and ferry system. In doing so, the app provides the ultimate travel experience for the more than 71.5 million travelers who travel via HKIA each year.
Cooperation in Asia
We are super proud of this partnership and we are thrilled to be able to bring our expertise and knowledge in this field to Hong Kong International Airport as well. And although we are well familiar with major international airports, the Asian market was still a new world for us. For our employees it is nice to be able to expand the international experience they already gained in Dubai and the USA with experience in Asia.
The development of the digital solution in cooperation with HKIA and our local partner in Hong Kong has now been completed. As of March 2021, the mobile application has been launched.
