C-level LEGO
The complete rebuild of the apps gave us the opportunity to choose efficiency in every area. The app platform is therefore a flexible and modular custom system inspired by LEGO. The individual, reusable components can be easily adapted, scaled up and integrated with Partou's existing IT infrastructure, which consists of an HRMS, child tracking system, staff planning tool, CRM system, CMSs, intranet, Identity Provider, Training Portal, BI platform and other source and target applications centralized within Partou. This makes the platform future-proof in the broadest sense of the word.
Partou cares for tens of thousands of children every day with over 12,500 employees at 900 locations in three countries. The organization finds itself in a sector struggling with staff shortages and other complex challenges. To meet these challenges, Partou will need to make the most of the opportunities offered by modern technology. This increased the demand for a robust and scalable digital app platform that addresses challenges and enables future (international) growth. With the realization of this digital app platform, Move is making an important contribution to the fulfillment of Partou's digital ambition.
Teams and structure
To realize this ambition and transformation, we set up three teams. One for a parent app, one for an employee app (the two main digital end products within Partou's digital landscape) as well as an overall direction team to monitor the strategic goals and ensure that all activities within the digital transformation contributed to Partou's long-term vision. After completing the necessary security tests and audits related to certifications and VOGs, our teams went full steam ahead.
Customized mobile gateway
In the old situation, Partou used white-label apps for both employees and parents. These types of SaaS solutions are often designed for specific sector needs and therefore do not always fit the needs of large organizations. Nevertheless, previously chosen legacy systems and their associated vendors are an essential part of Partou's digital landscape. To quickly innovate and give Partou more control over its digital products, we built a mobile gateway against the existing systems.
Durable design
Our approach to design also paints a good picture of the LEGO principle. We developed a single design system with visual components - a bin of digital "building blocks" - from which designers can draw to design apps and other digital products. Apart from shorter development processes and a much higher testability of apps, this working method ensures a uniform appearance, a strengthened brand identity and a recognizable and consistent user experience for the various target groups. Three long-cherished wishes of Partou.
Technical direction
Restructuring the technical landscape supporting the apps requires a clear vision, domain expertise and efficient communication. Therefore, as Partou's strategic and digital partner, we assumed a central, coordinating and advisory role in this process. By actively managing the technical direction, we ensured seamless cooperation with existing suppliers. This goes beyond just the technical side. In projects like this, we bring stakeholders together and regularly drive the right discussions to take projects to the next level. Our goal remains to bring all external parties and systems together on one platform, with only the data essential to the user experience. The streamlined collaboration, shared vision on code and short lines of communication between our Solution Architect and our senior Backend Developers play a crucial role in this.
